Sports is Sander’s passion, which has fascinated him since he was little. At a young age he obtained his 3nd Dan in judo and when he competed for the military teams at the World Cup he reached 2nd place. During his judo career he became fascinated by fitness & health and successfully completed the following education:
• C.I.O.S
• National Academy of Sports Medicine (N.A.S.M.);
• International Academy for Physical Training (I.A.P.T.);
• Active Release Techniques (A.R.T.);
• P-DTR (Proprioception Deep Tendon Reflex);
• NLP (Neuro linguistic programming).
After a world trip of almost 2 years, he started in 2000 as one of the first Personal Trainers in Amsterdam. He is again following training in nutrition, supplementation and manual therapy. He travels the world to learn from the best teachers including Charles Poliquin, Bob Cooley, José Palomar and Michael Leahy. He works with celebrities, professionals and (top) athletes such as Michael Korrel, Rea Lenders, Esther Stam, Birgit Ente, Epke Zonderland and Neal van de Kamer.
In 2012, Sander and his partner Michael Henskens were one of the first to establish the progressive Personal Training studio in Amsterdam: ‘Evolve Personal Health Institute’. Sander himself trains and educates his trainers, who then grow into successful Personal Trainers. He also trains top athletes judokas for the 2016 Olympic Games and hosts workshops with the great teachers Ido Portal, Milos Sarcev, Charles Poliquin, Matt Wenning, Christian Thibaudeau and Ed Coan as guest teachers.
Sander transferred the successful company ‘Evolve Personal Health Institute’ to Ultimate Performance in 2017, which wanted to establish itself in Amsterdam. He will remain responsible for managing and training their trainers for another year and is achieving results in the field of body transformations.
With the past 20 years of experience and entrepreneurship, Sander has developed into a Personal Trainer and Strength & Conditioning Coach. In 2018, Sander started his new company Smart Shape and became founder of the Just Muscle Science training institute together with Jorden Bres. For educating Personal trainers
What do I do?
I strive to get athletes/clients optimally strong. This means that I build them from the ground up and start with a good foundation so that they can be built on. The most important thing is that an athlete/client remains strong, fit and injury-free. This means that strength, mobility, flexibility and stability must be worked on. I mainly look at what exactly the athlete/client needs to become stronger and better. From there we make a plan.
